England is facing “nationally significant” water shortfalls this summer, despite July’s rainfall. 

Water is making headlines again – with household bills rising and climate pressures mounting, saving water is more important than ever. This week is Water Saving Week 2025, and we’re proud to support Waterwise in their mission to help everyone become a Water Saving Hero!

Whilst it's difficult to remember the glorious early summer we experienced amongst all these July showers, I saw on the news recently that they were comparing the heat of June 2023 to the heat of the summer of 1976 - does anyone remember this one? 

Summer's heat can be a challenge for gardeners, already leading to the dreaded 'hosepipe ban' in Cornwall and north Devon. Here are our top ten tips for saving water in your daily life this summer.

Knowingly or not knowingly, we waste water every day.

Every single day in the UK, over 3 billion litres of perfectly good clean water is being wasted. That's enough to fill 1,200 Olympic-sized swimming pools. It's estimated that this equates to roughly 25% of the UK's daily water consumption.

 In the UK, we expect access to clean drinking water each time we turn on the tap. For all of our lives it has always been this way and, no doubt, we’ll continue to expect this in the future. We can’t help but take for granted our easy access to water, and while we are incredibly lucky for this,  most of us have no idea where our water comes from or where it goes.
