It’s the topic making headlines this week - water companies are hiking our water bills beyond the soaring inflation rates, with an average 6% increase in England and Wales and over 8% in Scotland. With soaring water and energy costs, we’re all looking the little ways we can save on our bills. Here are just some ideas of how you can easily save water and energy in your bathroom! 1) Take a shower instead of a bath
Showers use much less water than a bath, so as tempting as it is to run one every evening, why not treat yourself to one on the weekend instead! 3) Don’t run taps for longer than you need It’s so easy to get distracted and leave the tap running for longer than you need. When you’re brushing your teeth or shaving for example. Cutting down on these bad habits makes a small change, but if you do this every day, the small changes soon add up! You can also add aerators to cut water flow, whilst not impacting on the feel of the water. 2) Reduce your shower time Did you know that the biggest part of your energy bill is often the cost of heating your hot water for showers? If you’ve got a family, that’s a great opportunity to save and you can do this by simply reducing the time you spend in the shower. The average person can take around 8 minutes in the shower, so think about how much water you’d save if you reduced this to 4? If you want to have the ultimate eco-friendly shower, then try our AQOS digital shower meter, for your family to race against, making showering fun and helping you to save money. 4) Reduce the water your shower uses You can not only reduce the time you spend in the shower, but you can also reduce the flow of water through your shower too. Cut the water you use in half with a shower regulator – a shower head which restricts the flow of water (and water used), without you even noticing! For more information click here. It's a great way to save water and energy in the bathroom. 5) Check for drips and leaks Not only is that drip, drip, drip noise incredibly annoying, it’s also water down the drain. Spend 10 minutes checking the bathroom and tightening anything loose, so save water and your sanity! You can find some simple tips to fix a dripping tap here.
