How to encourage water saving in the workplace

2/11/2022

We all want our workplaces to be as energy efficient as possible and to be able to do what we can for the environment. By optimising water consumption in the workplace, you can look at developing your corporate environmental reputation and through small steps, help to make an important difference to the planet.

Here are just a few suggestions on how you can get started.

Water audits
Why not get a water audit? You can arrange for professional visits to your business, to audit your current use and help put together a plan for your company to save water. Whether it’s a smaller company, or large corporate business, it’s great to have a benchmark to improve on!

Educate employees
By letting your employees know about your plans and the changes you want to make and why, you can get people on board to really help! Make employees conscious of not using excess water – leaving taps running, putting staff room dishwashers on when not full. The average person uses over 150 litres of water a day and a large percentage of that day is spent at work. ShowerBoB can help with this, by offering branded water saving accessories for your workplace.

Install water saving devices
Tap restrictors and aerators are a great way to reduce the amount of water flowing through your taps and if you have a shower rooms in your company buildings, you also might consider a digital shower meter, to encourage staff to take shorter showers.

Check office bathrooms, kitchens and other areas for drips
Leaky taps and toilets can cause unnecessary water wastage through leaks and even small drips, so make sure you regularly check your office and building facilities and encourage employees to report these when they come across them.

So why wait – start saving water now!
